FAQs

How do I administer Mounjaro®?

Mounjaro® is injected once a week, and you can give it in your thigh, upper arm, or stomach area. It uses a fine needle designed to minimise discomfort and is injected just beneath the skin. The injection pen includes easy-to-follow instructions and features a dial to help deliver the correct dose for your stage of treatment. After injecting, dispose of the used needle in a sharps bin. Replace the cap and store the pen as directed.

Each pen is designed to deliver four weekly doses, so one pen will last for four weeks. Always dispose of the needle safely after each use.

The dosage is gradually increased every four weeks until you reach either your maximum tolerated dose or the highest recommended dose.

Your weight will be monitored regularly with each order to ensure the treatment is effective. Once you’ve been on your highest tolerated dose for six months, your progress will be assessed. To continue receiving Mounjaro®, you’ll need to have lost approximately 5% of your starting weight. With appropriate medical oversight, you may be able to stay on Mounjaro® for up to two years.

Yes. We track your weight with every order to make sure Mounjaro® is working effectively for you. After six months on your highest tolerated dose, your results will be reviewed. To remain eligible for ongoing treatment, a weight loss of around 5% from your original weight is expected.

If you’re struggling with side effects such as ongoing nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea, speak to our support team. We may advise maintaining your current dose or reducing it temporarily to help your body adjust.
We’ll also offer guidance to help ease symptoms and maximise your results. Do not increase your dose without medical advice. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical help.

Yes, Mounjaro® KwikPen is licensed in the UK for weight management.

Keep Mounjaro® refrigerated between 2–8°C. If you’re travelling, use a cool bag or ice pack to maintain the correct temperature. Do not freeze it, and avoid using the pen if it has been frozen. Always keep the cap on when not in use to protect it from light.

If you miss your injection, take it as soon as you can – within four days of the scheduled date. If more than four days pass, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Always maintain a once-weekly routine from then onwards.

No, Mounjaro® should not be used if you are pregnant.

If you’re of childbearing age and sexually active, you should use contraception while on Mounjaro®.

As Mounjaro® may reduce how well the oral contraceptive pill works, it’s recommended to use a barrier method such as condoms or switch to a non-oral option like an implant or IUD.

Studies suggest Mounjaro® may lower the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills, potentially increasing the risk of unintended pregnancy. To stay protected, use an additional barrier method or switch to a non-oral contraceptive like an IUD or implant.

If you suffer severe vomiting within three hours of taking your pill, or diarrhoea lasting more than 24 hours, you may need to take another pill or seek advice from your GP or NHS 111. Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea may require switching to a more reliable contraceptive method.

If you’re preparing to conceive, wait at least one month after your final dose of Mounjaro® before trying for a baby.

We advise against using Mounjaro® while breastfeeding. It’s not yet known whether the medication passes into breast milk, so the potential risk to your baby cannot be ruled out.
