Wegovy® Injection

Wegovy® Tablet

The same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, in a once-daily tablet. Approved by the MHRA in June 2026, it’s the UK’s first licensed weight loss tablet of its kind — a completely needle-free option.

  • Taken on an empty stomach with a sip of water; wait 30 minutes before food or drink
  • Dose builds gradually from 1.5mg to a 25mg daily maintenance dose
  • Strong trial results, close to (though slightly below) the weekly injection

  • Once-weekly injection

Mounjaro® Injection

A once-weekly injection containing tirzepatide, which works on two gut-hormone receptors (GLP-1 and GIP) rather than one — a dual action that has produced the strongest results of any licensed weight loss medicine.

  • Around 20% average weight loss over 72 weeks at higher doses in its main trial (SURMOUNT-1)
  • Dual-action mechanism — different from semaglutide
  • Gradual dose escalation from 2.5mg up to a maximum of 15mg weekly

Good to know: common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea and reduced appetite. As with all our treatments, you’ll have scheduled reviews as your dose increases.

Who can be prescribed these treatments?

All three medicines share the same UK licence criteria. They are prescription-only and are always prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity — never on their own.

At your consultation we’ll review your BMI, medical history and any current medication before any treatment is recommended. If treatment isn’t suitable for you, we’ll tell you honestly and talk through alternatives.

  • Adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or
  • A BMI of 27–30 with at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or raised cholesterol
  • Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain medical histories may rule treatment out — your prescriber will check this with you
